I thought of this piece while taking my dog for a walk and listening to music. The song I was listening to - and I guess what gave me the whole idea for this piece - was "Time To Leave" by Darren Kiely. I knew I wanted to create something that depicted this idea of letting go because I was (surprise, surprise) desperately trying to let go of something (someone).

I like using skeletons in my work as a way to play with the idea of life and death - and balance. In this case, I immediately knew I wanted to have a human hand reaching for a skeleton hand. Or letting go of a skeleton hand. I guess it can go either way. I wanted to use the circle behind the two hands as a play on the "time to leave" lyrics - it's meant to be a clock with the human and skeleton arms acting as the actual hands on a clock.
